Driving traffic is hard and to create contents for marketing is more than just blog content strategy. Way more. Have you ever wondered why some types of content generate lots of search traffic and others don’t?

I too was wondering about that, so I started to look for patterns and analyze competing blogs. What I found was pretty interesting. Informative, and compelling content drives thousands of visitors to your site. It works for e-commerce store owners, bloggers, and pretty much any other business you can imagine.

There are several golden rules to making traffic easy less of the effort and we are breaking them down into chunks today:

A content strategy is still the best and cheapest way to drive traffic to your website.

1. Get Social:

It is not enough to produce great content and hope that people find it – you have to be proactive. One of the best ways to increase traffic to your website is to use social media channels to promote your content. If you are a B2C product company, you might find great traction with image-heavy social sites like Pinterest and Instagram. For B2B, LinkedIn is your next stop.

2. Read Blogs to Create Contents:

Reading not only sharpens your writing skills, but it also gives you ideas and inspiration. I spend at least an hour reading articles and blogs every day. This is a way to to know other blog content stategy ideas that are working. In one session, I will jot down about ten different ideas for new content. Perhaps the blog left some questions unanswered. Did you know that video content is the most shared form of content? Well it is. It’s not as simple as knocking out a blog post, but it might be much more effective in the long-term. It can be as simple as talking into the camera, and outlining some key facts or statistics. As long as you’re providing valuable information, try it in a variety of different mediums. Your phone will do wonders.

4.Pay Attention to On-Page SEO:

Think SEO has fizzled out? Think again. Optimizing your content for search engines is still a valuable and worthwhile practice. Your blog content strategy is tied to your on page SEO. Are you making the most of image alt text? Are you creating internal links to new content? What about meta descriptions? Optimizing for on-page SEO doesn’t have to take ages, and it could help boost your organic traffic.

5.Speak Directly to the People you want to attract:

Remember Content Marketing only works when you make it entertaining and useful for your audience. Make it user-friendly. Make it clear. Write about the problems your potential customers care about.

6.Research the Competition for their blog content strategy:

If you haven’t used software like BuzzSumo to check out what your competitors are up to, you’re at a huge disadvantage. These services aggregate the social performance of specific sites and content to provide you with an at-a-glance view of what topics are resonating with readers and, most importantly, making the rounds on social media. Find out what people are reading (and talking about), and emulate that kind of content to bring traffic to your website.

7.Host Webinars:

People love to learn, and webinars are an excellent way to impart your wisdom to your eagerly waiting audience. Combined with an effective social promotion campaign, webinars are a great way to increase traffic to your website. Send out an email a week or so ahead of time, as well as a “last chance to register” reminder the day before the webinar. Make sure to archive the presentation for later viewing, and promote your webinars widely through social media.

8.Examine Your Analytics Data:

Google Analytics is an invaluable source of data on just about every conceivable aspect of your site, from your most popular pages to visitor demographics. A way to know if your blog content strategy is working by keeping a close eye on your Analytics data, and using this information to inform your promotional and future content strategies.

9.Killer Headlines:

If you really want to drive traffic, you’ve got to stand out from all the other pieces of content out there. Your headlines and titles have got to break through the noise, and convince people to click on them. Spend at least 20% of your time crafting a word-perfect title. Make it intriguing, teasing, and in-your-face.

10. Get real:

Explore the possibilities of finding traffic in the offline world. Regardless of what your online blog content strategy is, their is need for human touch.  Attend an in-person conference where you can meet new people in your industry, as well as potential clients or customers. If you’re selling business-to-business, pitch articles to trade journals and business newspapers. Whichever way you find them, entice those offline readers to your website and offer a tantalizing incentive to join your email list or a heroically effective email auto respond sequence.

A content strategy is still the best and cheapest way to drive traffic to your website. But, it isn’t easy.

Traffic acquisition takes time, patience, and a schedule. It’s the key to long-term, valuable traffic. Have you got any questions or thoughts on the topic? Let us know in the comment section below.
